I have never played 4e, but about 1 year ago I started GMing (and enjoying) PF2E. That got me real curious about 4e and started doing some research and buying the pdfs (physical 4e books have become hard and / or expensive to get). And while I have yet to read them cover to cover and play 4e, my initial reaction was... "why on earth did this get so much hate?". Because, at first glance at least, it seems like it would be a total hoot to run and play. But, hey, what do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
